Gold Key International

Indiana University School of Optometry O.D. students are invited to join the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, or Gold Key for short. Gold Key is an organization created to recognize leadership in optometry schools and has been recognized by the AOSA as the highest leadership honor a student of optometry can achieve.

To be considered for membership in the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, students should download and fill out a Gold Key application. Four more members from the class of 2014 will be chosen at the end of the fall semester. Member selection from the class of 2015 will begin in spring of 2014. The deadline for applications will be announced at a later date.

As a member of Gold Key, students receive a certificate of membership and a metal Gold Key lapel pin. At graduation, each member wears a gold stole embroidered with a black key to denote the special honor.

The Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society recognizes leadership in the class, the school, and the optometric profession. Similar to membership in Beta Sigma Kappa, the greatest reward is the honor and prestige bestowed upon members—the recognition that a person's hard work and good attitude is important.
