Contact Lens and Advanced Contact Lens Service

Learn how contact lenses can improve your life

Contact lenses, if you need them, can make everyday tasks possible. Because they are invisible, they are a popular alternative to glasses. However, they can also be too big, too small, too weak, or too strong, adding more problems or even injuries to your eyes.

We fit and prescribe contact lenses to correct a number of vision problems, including nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. We also prescribe specialized contact lenses for patients following a corneal or refractive surgery, such as LASIK, or after corneal injuries and scarring.

All eyes on you

The Cornea and Contact Lens Service operates in a team approach, with optometry student interns performing your eye exam under the direct supervision of experienced faculty.

The faculty doctor will make the final decisions regarding the prescription, contact lens design and material, and, if needed, management of eye disease.

When to make an appointment for a contact lens exam

If you currently wear contacts, frequent visits to your eye doctor are necessary to be sure you have the right fit and prescription. If you currently wear glasses, but are considering switching to contacts, you will need to make an appointment for an initial fitting and prescription.
