Biography

Dr. Kim Kohne graduated from Indiana University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology. Upon graduation, she worked for several years in the biotech industry at Sigma Chemical Company and then at Incyte Pharmaceuticals in St. Louis, Missouri. She returned to school and received her O.D. degree from University of Missouri–St. Louis in 2004. After graduation, Dr. Kohne completed a residency in ocular disease from Indiana University in 2005.

Following completion of her residency, Dr. Kohne joined the faculty at Indiana University School of Optometry as an assistant clinical professor. In 2020, she was promoted to clinical professor. Dr. Kohne works with third-year interns on the primary care floor, with fourth-year interns in the contact lens clinic, and at the IU Health Center Eye Clinic.

Dr. Kohne is active in the AOA, AOA CL section, AOA Low Vision section, IOA, Stonebelt Society, and the AAO. In 2006, after having met all the requirements, she earned her fellowship in the Academy. Dr. Kohne is the assistant site coordinator for NBEO, is active in the interviewing process of potential future optometrists, and serves on several committees for the School of Optometry.
