Biography
Dr. Alexandra Homann is currently a medical science liaison for Dompé covering the North Central territory. During her clinical externships, she had the privilege of attending Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL, the number one ophthalmologic hospital in the United States, where her passion for ocular disease began. Dr. Homann then pursued a residency in ocular disease at NOVA Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, where her focus was on the management of various ocular conditions, ranging from the anterior segment to the posterior.
Upon completion of residency, she accepted a position at the St. Louis VA, again using her vast knowledge of ocular pathologies to treat our nation’s veterans. After two years, she began her career at a multi-specialty practice in St. Louis, MO, working alongside ophthalmologists, where she provided comprehensive and co-managed eye care to patients of all ages. Her passion for lifelong learning led to another goal of becoming a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, which was accomplished in 2022.
Having recently transitioned out of clinical care into the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Homann provides scientific and educational exchange to her peers, as well as providing the company with insights gathered from those working in patient care, as means to further progress the medical understanding of ocular diseases. In her first role, she focused on retinal pathology, specifically with an intravitreal implant for the treatment of diabetic macular edema before moving to the anterior segment, concentrating on corneal disease.
When not engaged in scientific communication, she loves spending time with her husband, Nathan, and two children, Jordan and Talan, being outdoors—whether that is through hiking trails, visiting national parks, or relaxing on the beach—and travel.
